What Inspires Me As An Artist and Photographer
Ask me about my influences as an artist, and I’d have a completely different set of answers. I would point to music and musicians. I’d point to poets and poetry. All of which have nothing to do with photography directly as far as the craft is concerned. But ask me about artists, and the first person that I’ll likely mention is Egon Schiele, whose work when I first saw it in a Tower Records book section in 1991 or so blew me away. It was the first time ever that I picked up a picture, one of his self-portraits, examined it, and said to myself, “that’s exactly how I feel.” That connection, or whatever you want to call it, was inspiring.
How I Change Backgrounds in My Photo Retouching
It's very common to receive requests from clients to remove or completely change the backgrounds when I'm retouching their images. Sometimes they inform me in advance but oftentimes requests like this come in spur-of-the-moment once the client is happy but then seeks more value to make use of their images. Removing backgrounds is usually the easy part. It's pretty much Photo Editing 101 for any retoucher with any experience. But it becomes a different story when you try to match a background that looks realistic. This is the point where photo retouchers start to earn their money. This is basically compositing, where you must consider the light, color, exposure values, shadows, and any number of other elements that may make the subject or the background conflict with one another if not handled properly.
Worli By Night
Worli village is such a great location to visit, no matter what time of day you go. But since we're photographers, focusing on sunrises and sunsets at Golden Hour is going to produce the best results. Our three-hour workshop will include capturing the wonderful sunset from Worli Fort or from the fishing village below near the water. It's a tough choice sometimes between these two options because if there are fishermen at work, you can get some fantastic images down by the water. Shooting from the Fort though guarantees a great panorama of the city. We'll shoot for both!
