This is not a beginner camera class. It is a fine art street photography experience led by Craig Boehman, a Pacific Northwest native who spent over a decade photographing life on the streets of Mumbai, one of the world's most visually complex and densely populated cities. Now based in the Inland Northwest, Craig brings that same intensity of vision to Spokane's urban core.

Over five hours, we walk through downtown Spokane, from the grand historic facades of Sprague Avenue to the raw geometry of the Monroe Street Bridge and the dramatic natural backdrop of Spokane Falls. Each location is chosen for its visual depth, light, and potential to capture candid, unposed human moments that define fine art street photography.

This workshop is built around you. Whether you want to spend the entire session chasing decisive moments on the street or dive deep into a single technique, the instruction is tailored to your current level and your goals. We can work across all disciplines or focus exclusively on one.

Candid Street Photography

The philosophy, approach, and practical techniques for capturing authentic human moments in public spaces without intrusion or posing. We are looking for subjects in their environment, figures framed by architecture, light, and city geometry. No street portraiture. No staged moments.

Long Exposure

Using the city's moving water and human traffic to create images that convey presence and stillness simultaneously. Spokane Falls and the river environment make this city exceptional for this technique. Tripods and ND filters are not required but are recommended for anyone planning to explore this discipline.

Intentional Camera Movement (ICM)

One of the most expressive and least understood tools in street and fine art photography. ICM transforms the urban environment into a painterly, abstract work, revealing mood and atmosphere that a static frame cannot capture. No special gear required.

High Contrast Black and White

Learning to see in monochrome before you shoot, understanding how light, shadow, and tonal contrast create images that stand on their own without color as a crutch. Spokane's architecture and the quality of fall and winter light make this city ideal for this approach.

Composition and Environmental Framing

How to use the city itself as a compositional tool. Doorways, bridges, reflections, leading lines, layers of depth. The street is not a backdrop. It is a participant.

Bring whatever camera system you shoot with. Mirrorless, DSLR, film, or smartphone, the instruction adapts to your gear. A tripod and ND filters are recommended if you plan to explore long exposure work, but are not required. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.

A signed liability waiver is required from all participants prior to the start of the workshop.

All bookings are non-changeable and non-refundable once confirmed.

In the event of cancellation by the instructor, a full refund will be issued immediately.
