I love the idea of one-of-a-kinds and collectibles. It's a bit more tricky as a fine art photographer because you have the original Raw files and you can just make prints whenever you want. But there are workarounds to create scarcity. One way is the artist's word. If the artist says there will only be one, then its reputation that is on the line. But we can go a step further: we can destroy the original Raw files. And specifically, make a spectacle of it by documenting it, which is what I'm doing with the 1-of-1 prints I'm releasing today. There will only be one print made for my collectors. No other derivatives or other editions will be created. This is it!
What's new for me is using ChromaLuxe metal for the print. These prints are designed to last longer than most print papers on the market. They can be easily cleaned with glass cleaner and cloth. Apparently, they can withstand flame, a claim that I'll personally be testing (but not on this piece!). If you're looking for something new for your walls that stands out, this would be something to consider, especially for a covered patio situation where you'd normally not want to hang more delicate artwork.
Like my last collection, these prints are works based on the ICM technique; Intentional Camera Movement. The overall motion/blur effects are created in camera, while the post-work is for enhancing colors and creating other elements. "I Walk" was sourced from a street photography shot taken on the streets of Mumbai at night. It includes one of my favorite subjects, Mumbai's own autorickshaw, the scourge of the northern suburbs, some would say. But They're my favorite mode of transport here and I make use of them wherever I can for travel and creating new work.
