Inferno
INFERNO will be available for sale at the March 18 launch at Drifters Cafe & Bar in Bandra. Join me there at 12 pm for fantastic beer (I dig their IPA) and food. And support my launch by taking home a limited edition print!
If there’s anyone one thing that can be agreed on by most art aficionados, it’s this: art sure is subjective. That applies to what’s considered “art” right down to whether that art is “good” or something else entirely. All of us could probably name a well-known artist’s work that we absolutely love and respect and art from someone else who we think is shit. Have you ever had a conversation that went something like this: “…we walked into a gallery and everything in there was trash. A kid could have done it. I could have done it.”
Whether who could have, would have, should have done it may deviate a bit from the fact that the referenced art is terrible for X, Y, and Z reasons. This sort of personal criticism, however harsh, however on point or not, isn’t just restricted to art critics and the general public. Have you ever seen quotes from the artists themselves, on what they consider art, on what they consider good and bad? Their comments can be just as inflammatory or worse. And while I too hold such opinions, and have my own personal ideas on what I consider good and bad, I do keep a thought in mind whenever I hear others’ opinions or espouse my own. I think the most important thing to remember is that there’s no accounting for taste. Just as someone’s preference for food can seem completely bonkers, so too is one’s cravings for art. And isn’t that what makes things potentially exciting? That we’re all not drones who like the same exact things?
I’m inviting you to attend the launch of the Aksa Collection on March 18th at Drifters Cafe & Bar in Bandra. If you don’t like my art, have a beer with me. If you love it, well, I have something I might want you to buy.
Sign up for my newsletter for pre-ordering on March 14 - 18. A 20% discount is available as well for those who attend the launch.
