Why I Always Keep My Phone Camera Handy

I always strive to have my camera with me at all times. But there are days when I'm running errands, meeting friends, or just going about my day where carrying a camera can be cumbersome. That's where my phone camera comes in as my trusty backup camera.

Just the other day, I had one of those moments where I was glad to have my phone camera at the ready. After getting out of the rickshaw at my building gate and putting away my camera, I looked up and saw this girl across the way sitting on the second floor of a construction site. The light was perfect, and the setting was just too good to pass up. But I didn't have time to go for my camera in the bag - I had to take the shot with the phone.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that phone cameras have come a long way in recent years. They can produce some stunning images, but they're still not quite on par with my trusty mirrorless cameras in terms of resolution and overall image quality. But the point is, having a camera phone ready is always a good thing, especially when unexpected moments like this one come up.

In my opinion, one of the most important things about photography is being present in the moment and being ready to capture whatever comes my way. Whether it's a beautiful sunset, a fleeting expression on someone's face, or a random scene that catches my eye, having a camera phone in hand means I'm always [mostly] prepared.

I’ve included the image straight out of camera here too. Yes. I cropped in quite a bit! But I do like the original too, as lanky and awkward the frame looks.

Tell me about a time when your phone camera captured something cool when your main camera was asleep at the wheel.
